Steal My Story
Hello Spokane Writers!
We’re putting a bit of a change on Steel My Story for this month. Instead of 1000 words we’ll be taking it down to 250 words for entries in the month of June. Join RiverSpeak’s “Steal My Story,” a fiction writing chain where participants steal other people’s stories and make them uniquely their own.
Your story will go from local writer to local writer so that they can add to your story, while you’ll receive stories from other local writers to add 250 words. Maybe stories will have multiple endings; maybe RiverSpeak.net users will vote on which story progression is best; maybe this will be the funnest fiction chain Spokane has ever seen.
Final stories will be published on RiverSpeak.net, with credit given to ALL the writers. You don’t need to be exceptionally talented–just an earnest desire to hone your writing skills and challenge your creativity.
To learn this month’s theme, join Steal My Story, or submit your first 250 words, click here. Submissions are due by the 25th of each month. Happy writing!

I’m excited for this–I think this could be a way to identify some solid writers and have some fun.
A rule says content must be PG-13. Does that mean that if it starts out as G that it has to be gussied up a bit?
NO! I just changed that–you’re right–it sounded bad. lol
I actually think it sounded great!! A semi-seedy Spokane story.
LOVE the idea!
Very much looking forward to seeing what stories people come up with. I’ll be waiting for all your submissions, folks!
This sounds like a good time.
Just a reminder to those who haven’t submitted a story yet, today’s the deadline for March. If you want to contribute, send me your thousand words and you’ll get someone else’s to continue for the month of April.
Hello People,
A couple individuals have said that they are having trouble submitting their works on the website. If this is happening for anyone else you can contact me on Facebook and you can email it to me.
I’ll accept anything that gets submitted today and probably tomorrow too, so don’t think it’s too late to submit for March just yet.
Hello People,
The April month is under way and those who submitted have now had their stories passed on to someone else to continue. Next due date for submissions are on April 30th and we’ll continue the next link in the chain in May.
If you didn’t submit anything for this month, don’t worry! It’s never too late to join in on the fun! Write up a starter and send it to me, then I’ll make sure it gets to someone to continue it and I’ll get you someone else’s story for you to continue for May.
Don’t wait! Join in on the fun!
Hello People!
The June Deadline for Steal My Story is just around the corner. Just a friendly reminder to get me your submissions. It’s just 250 words this time around, so I’m hoping for a few more entries this time around.
Remember to include a reference to a venue in the Spokane area. Local FTW, folks!
Thanks, hope to hear from you soon!
