Win or Fail?

Someone posted this advertising campaign as a “fail” on failblog.org with the caption “A very clever series of advertisements for an art school in the United States.  Oh no wait, just kidding, it’s actually a warning about letting our children develop artistic skills.”

Now failblog members are arguing in the comments section over whether or not this campaign should be re-categorized a “win” for its pro-arts message, or continue to be labeled a “fail” because kids should not choose a career in the arts.  I’m curious to know what side our readers would choose in this debate.

Clever, but I think they went a bit too far copying the drug PSAs by giving most of them a sad or angry look. It’s too negative for promoting the joy and beauty of art. Showing kids upset over art isn’t going to convince them to pursue it.

I agree–I would seriously think it was a spoof on parents who fear art and don’t understand it. If they think it was a promotion, I would think so only for those sarcastically inclined.
